VISIONS OF IMAGINATION

As a response to the bizarre times we are living in, most of my paintings over the last few years have slowly transformed into a visual narrative about hope, survival and resilience - emphasising positivity.

In order to achieve that, I use often nature combined with visual metaphors, by introducing symbolic references. They vary from symbols of freedom, joy and opportunity, to symbols of transition like doors, gates, stairs, bridges etc., creating a variety of unusual perspectives and entrances, to transport us into a more mystical and spiritual world of wonder.

I like to use black backgrounds and frames to enhance the colours and the essence of my work. At the same time it seems to give the paintings a more intimate and mystical quality - just like visions coming out of the shadows.
